Insight Oriented

Although I am trained in multiple treatment approaches — including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — my primary orientation is psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Psychodynamic therapy is based on a simple but powerful idea: we are influenced not only by what we consciously know about ourselves, but also by parts of our experience that operate outside of awareness.

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking:

  • “Why do I keep reacting this way?”

  • “I know better — so why can’t I stop?”

  • “Why do I feel anxious, angry, empty, or stuck when my life looks fine on paper?”

You’re not alone.

Many of the individuals I work with are thoughtful, intelligent, and accomplished. Yet they find themselves struggling with persistent anxiety, panic, irritability, emotional exhaustion, relationship conflict, underachievement, or a vague but troubling sense that something isn’t right.

Often, the issue isn’t a lack of insight or intelligence. It’s that certain feelings — especially confusing or painful ones — have never had the space to be fully understood and worked through.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy provides that space.

Together, we look beyond surface symptoms and explore the patterns, relationships, and emotional experiences that shape how you move through the world. Over time, this deeper understanding can lead to:

  • Greater emotional clarity

  • Relief from recurring anxiety or self-doubt

  • Improved relationships

  • Increased confidence and authenticity

  • A stronger sense of direction and purpose

Therapy is not about being “fixed.” It’s about becoming more fully yourself.

If you’re seeking psychotherapy in Beachwood or the greater Cleveland area and want a thoughtful, depth-oriented approach, I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
